Over the past few weeks, things have changed drastically. The COVID-19 pandemic is serious, but if we stick together, we will get through it. In order to help everyone who is sheltering in place and practicing social distancing, I thought it would be fun to write a blog about the best anti-aging ingredients that you can find around the house.
You don’t even have to go to the supermarket because you probably have at least a few of these in your pantry right now!
Hey, you might as well make the most of your time at home—why not turn your bathroom into a spa? Ready to get to it?
Here are five best anti-aging ingredients and how to use them to look and feel younger.
Green Tea
Chock full of caffeine and antioxidants, green tea is excellent for promoting good health and longevity. If you’re tired of dealing with inflammation, go ahead and brew a cup or two and relax next to the window to soak in the view.
You can also combine green tea leaves with a few other ingredients to make a facial mask. Keep reading to find out how!
Red Wine
Alright, let’s face it. You might not be going out for dinner or drinks any time soon. But hey, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a nice glass or two of red wine while you are stuck at home. One glass for women and two for men is all it takes to reap the benefits of the resveratrol and polyphenols that red wine contains. It’s one of the best anti-aging treatments, and definitely one of the most enjoyable!
Coffee Grounds
Mixed with a little bit of olive oil, coffee grounds make a great facial scrub that will leave you looking younger. So, don’t throw away those coffee grounds in the morning. Save them and reuse them!
Baking Soda and Raw Honey
OK, I’ve held back long enough. Still wondering how to make that green tea mask? Well, here you go.
Ingredients
- 1 green tea bag
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 ½ tsp raw honey
With a mortar and pestle, grind the tea into a fine powder, then mix it with the other ingredients until they are well incorporated. To apply, rinse and dry your face, then apply the mask. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing.
The baking soda helps reduce redness and treats acne, while the raw honey, which is naturally antibacterial, will leave your skin soft and smooth.
Bonus: Cinnamon
When applied topically, cinnamon can help fight inflammation, redness, and swelling from stress and fatigue (which I’m sure we’re all feeling these days). If you’ve got any of that raw honey left over from your green tea mask, mix some of it with ground cinnamon and apply it to any problem areas. Mix one part cinnamon and two parts honey, then apply, rinsing after 10 minutes.
